Costs about $150-$250 per sq yd here. Has been dropped from the apprenticeship training since it was changed from 5 to 3 years.
Mainly done by specialists now, and although it looks good is probably the most boring job in masonry.
We have tuckointing around here (Ottawa) that is 120 years old now. the exposed areas are washed a way but the protected areas still look good. I LOVE it, and would ;love to try it someday but I bet it would get boring doing it day in and day out.
