I'm new to the concrete and excavation estimating business, and I'm trying to get a more accurate calculation to what our 6 wheeler and our 18 wheeler trucks will haul dirt/soil wise. Typically we will haul 3 types of soil, black dirt, clay and sometimes pit run. I'm mostly concerned with the black and clay. We generally figure about a fluff factor of 1.3, we do have an excavation software that will calculate volume for export or import. I just don't know how much we can carry in the dump boxes.
Is there a way to calculate the volume per yard(based on the dump box size) or the volume by the weight of the material loaded?
