Help with bidding for a job

7055 Views 51 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  naptown CR
Hello my name is Josh and I had recieved a phone call about painting a house. I have done several inside jobs but have never done a entire house outside. My question was about how much to bid on the job for labor only. House does need scraped and cleaned before paint. trim needs painted. House is 30x40 2 storys. 1 side will require ladders the other 3 have a porch around them so it makes for easier painting. Any help at all would be highly appreaciated. I know the price would vary between states im just looking for a general idea.

Thanks
Josh

States beginning with a vowel would be 3200. Any states form the original colonies(not starting with a vowel) would be 22% more. Not sure about the rest, but I bet it starts with a tree....................
what kind of tools will you be using?
I am glad you asked, I asked the same thing and the answer is almost always 350. But i don't know that you could make any money for dat price. How long will it take yoo to do it? What doo you think it is worth? you tell me and then I will tell you what I think.
Man, that's just way too high. This kid would never get the job. I'm thinking $3000.50
Kid Seriously, heres what you need to do. Post an ad on craigslist. When people reply, have the first three go out and give you a price for the job. Then you can decide if you wanna be the highest, lowest, or in the middle. This plan is foolproof!
As for tools I am considering picking up a sprayer, or the oll fashion paint brush. Yea $9625.40 is way to high for the area which I live in. It will prob take 5-7 days with 3 guys. I was thinking around that price

very good idea about craigslist. You wouldnt believe the work I get from there. Very good resource for me anyways. I called a couple different contractors an they said around $2500 to $3500 for the job, and thats only labor

13250.40
Since it is 10' off the ground your going to have to charge a little more. Figure out the total metric cubic feet between the ground and deck and let us know so we can give you an exact dollar figure.
that aint a bad price all J. what kind of warranty are you thinkin bout?

Nonsense!
Heres what I do for tall decks. Bring the homeowner outside on the deck and have them spin one of those spinners from a game like Life or Payday. 1 is $1000 2 is $2000 etc. This is not only fair to everyone, but so much fun too.

Your starting to get the hang of this:laughing:
