Ok, so here is the challenge. I have to pour a 4'x14' sidewalk that slopes downhill from a poured driveway to a deck that is 14" above grade. Elevation difference between the driveway and the grade below deck is about 7". If I pour the sidewalk level it will look ridiculous and if I bring in fill it will as well. So I will need to add in a step/landing to get onto the deck. As I live in a cold climate with lots of snow (Minnesota), I am worried about snow melt ponding at the foot of the step and turning into ice. I am thinking of sloping the sidewalk to the downhill side tangential to the run of the sidewalk and adding a small channel at the foot of the step for drainage. Any advice on what to do in the matter would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks!
