I am re-posting this to get some other ideas. This is a house that I will be starting on soon. Basically a lot of the original work on this house was done by the HO, and on top of that it hasn't ever been completely finished, nor has it been maintained. Anyways, they wanted me to just redo this window, and then side it when we vinyl the gable ends and put on the gutters. I, however, suggested changing the framing above the window to give it more weather protection(you can see where the water destroys the sill), and/or putting on a porch roof. The deck ends right where the window starts, and they are wanting the deck redone too. I was thinking about extending the deck past that window, then putting a roof over the deck. Other than that, I don't know what would look right here with the way the roof pitch is.

Any suggestions?

What is the sill made of, and
why not just extend the roof line?

That looks retarded to be blunt, i would try to push building a gable roof over it...a "dormer" if you will...give it some character back there and protect that debotchery better than it is now

Duh,;)

My guess by the way water has been smacking that wood sill on top of the brick is that water has entered the air gap behind the brick veneer, and rot has attacked the framing.

The whole thing may be coming down
