My brother lives outside of Richmond, VA and is looking at moving to New Jersey for work. I am going out to VA in a few weeks to assess his projects.

I may do a little of the work for him, but I am going to need contractors in the area to complete the larger projects. Anyone out that way? Or does anyone know of anyone out that way?

I am going to be there the week of Feb 3rd or 10th.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

Assuming you are saying you need a contractor on the Richmond end, we are in Richmond. Depending on what it is/when you need it done it might work out. Let me know.
Yes, I am looking for a contractor in the Richmond area.
The weather must be better in VA why the move to NJ and why leave a workload?

I'm not moving, he is. He is moving from VA to NJ. He graduates from grad school in May and is going to work in NJ. It's where the best jobs in his industry are.
That's brotherly of you. My brothers and I work real well together until the fists come out.

No. We have hung our own on everything except a house we built for a friend. Subbed it to somebody but that name doesn't sound familiar.

Good for you. I sub drywall every time i have a chance.

I actually don't mind hanging, but hate finishing.

Just like sheathing except you get to use a knife.

And you have to finish it...

We have a good buddy in Christian radio ministry that used to do drywall. He does the finishing for us on addition's, attics, basements, anything large. We do the rest. I can finish pretty well... At half speed compared to him though. Lol

We have never done texture. Around here people pay you to take it off. One of the most interesting things about this site to me is seeing how different people do things in different areas. Helps with being more diverse and getting new ideas.

pharmaceuticals or chemicals?
Most people try to leave here not move here.

We have never done level 5 as I understand it from reading what y'all talk about on here. We would hang the drywall, prefill where needed with 20, tape, then 3 coats usually with +3 over the tape then sand.

A level 5 would be after sanding to skim the whole wall...?
Not bragging but my drywall finishing looks nicer than most drywall in every house in the area I have been in. I care about my work and have gotten instruction from my friend and one other pro on how to finish which helped me out a lot.

It's a side note I suppose but quite a few of you guys from the sounds of it work for what I would call high end customers. I've even thought about starting a thread about it. I would estimate that 75% of the house's we work on would be tax assessed $300,000 or less. We have worked in a few 1M homes.

Point being, I have been thinking about what that does as far as the level of work people are interested in paying for. We do the best work we can and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I feel good about the work I do. But I just feel like a step down from the level of work a lot of you guys post photos of.
