Have the bottom piece of plywood long and cut it so the outside of jig is EXACTLY where cut line will be. And prefinished plywood is very nice on your doors.

I was thinking of leaving the bottom piece wild and just running the saw along the guide, kinda like a zero clearance plate on a tablesaw.

There's an under-utilized showcase feature that might serve your purpose, but realistically the simplest thing would be to start a thread called "My Projects" or something similar. Of course that would garner comments, which may or may not be what you have in mind.
