100yr old home. We would like to make the floors a darker color. What's best type of stain? The sample is alcohol based behlen, i had from my woodshop. Has anyone seen the "tiger effect" on floors, and what's your opinion. O yeah, this is my house that i have the privilege of working on. If it was a HO I would sub it out. I have done prefinished flooring, but I've never had the opportunity to refinished one. I know I'm a little worried.

Use a penetrating stain in color of choice.

you will get lights and darks in boards like that.

hers the trick..when you stain.always start applying on portions already stained to avoid drip marks and laps.

SYP can be difficult but pine is very stainable contrary to popular belief,
