I have a question about a header for an exterior door. I'm converting my garage into a den and of course it already has a load bearing beam running across it. I have enough room to put two jacks studs with a 2X4 header above. It this acceptable by code? Or do I have to have two king studs next to the jacks running the length of the wall? I really don't want to mess with the existing portion of the wall (beside ripping down the sheet rock and insulating)... Here are two pictures to help with the reference... Please advise!

Internet is wonderful isnt it? I mean just get involved in anything then just ask the wizard of Oz for answers and guidance.

If your reusing the header you only need jacks for your opening. Geez
