Having a nightmare with no coat ultra flex any tips?

Well after some of you said try ultraflex 325 I thought I would try it. Its def not going well. The issues I'm having is it feels like there's no mud under the taper. I'm tapping it with my finger and some parts sound hollow and some solid. I'm also having a problem getting it sitting on the corner at the right angle. Not sure if this pic shows my issue but once mudded I'm gonna sand through to paper and through to the core to get a nice looking corner. Is there a tool to apply this stuff?

Well looks like this may solve the issue. I was at the suppliers and they said its almost impossible to install correctly with out this over priced setting tool. Will find out if it works in the morning .

Looks like you could have bent the wheels on some roller skates and been good to go,

NO-Coat nightmare

The roller will definitly set the corner,Using that on outside corners would'nt be my first choice.No-Coat makes what they call a smart series 90. It comes in 8' &10' pre bent out side corners. If available that would be the way to go in my opinion.

you have to cake the corner with your tape mud like a good 1/4" thick on either side.
put the corner up and then use the corner roller you have pictured.
clean the mud off and then check your gap.
you can twist it by hand or you can also pinch it and move it out a little.
i find it no coat does not save you can time but the end finished product is awesome

Thanks guys will try again tomorrow. Its the better corner I'm after even if it takes longer.

Will cake it on this time.

My supplier dont have the single lengths either.

I hate mud on corner bead it has too many steps involved Im all for using metal and installing with a brad nailer/stapler and a compressor and hose using 3/8" staples but if I were to pick a mud on bead I would go with the "No Coat" brand anything that straight flex makes is garbage in my opinion they keep comming out with new products ever since No Coat came out but they are all inferior
I'm an old dog that sticks with metal/plastic bead stapled on.

But, I have nothing against other methods.

Hats off to BCC for giving it a try and asking for tips.

That's the edge of the tap. I'm just holding that in place so you guys can see the issue I'm having.

Its dimple marks on the edge of the tape. Guess its there for better hold.
Isn't ultra flex made for weird angles?
Well the tool does its job pretty well. The corner is 10x better than without using in. Still had to tube it a tiny bit but prob quicker than me putting up plastic or metal.

Hard to see from the pic but it def works.

They also make no-coat sticks for bead work.

i dont like it
Box bead or bead in a box is best used on inside angles. We will use on outside corners in a pinch or they are nice to use on long soffits. Still a tough task for anyone . The sticks are MUCH easier to work with
BC, if you can get the sticks you will love them. Ask your supplier for Smart Series, that's what they call the preformed outside90s. I can get them cheaper than the Ultraflex and have used them for almost ten years. I used the same roller you've got and it worked good but the Nocoat roller is way, way better!
now you can try smashing the corner bead to see if it holds up
