I'm all caught up with current projects and I figured I'd take a look at reducing some regular bills this afternoon.

I pulled up my coverage for my truck insurance and got it quoted with 3 other major carriers. Surprise. The exact same coverage was available for less than half of what the green lizard people had me paying for the last 7 years. I called to give them one last chance to keep me out of respect, and they came within 6 bucks a month of matching the lowest one so I kept them.

Then I did the same thing with cable/phone/internet provider with similar results, but not quite as drastic.

My cell phone provider is the next one on the list to call.

I just thought I'd remind you guys to perhaps do this on a slow afternoon. It was absolutely worth my time.

Good Luck:thumbsup:

That's kind of where I was with the green lizard people. I've had them on and off as long as I've owned a car, hadn't had an accident in over 20 years, and they kept upping the rates on me. So I started bouncing back and forth between Flo and the Good Neighbors and what I discovered is that sometimes they don't always ask you the "right" questions. My business address is in the "hot" zone but when they found out that I keep my vehicles garaged at home which outside of the zone, my rate dropped nearly $70 a 6-month period. I also found out that I can save on my personal vehicle because technically I never drive it to work. Every so often when I renew and shop for rates, I will always mention these things.

Cable/Phone/Internet - The cable guy told me that if your 6-month or 1-year special runs out, just have your service disconnected, return the cable boxes, and then a week later call back to be reconnected. I haven't done it yet only because I don't if I can be down that long. :)

Time warner has specialist called retainage specialists to negotiate cable rates.

I found that once a year I call and threaten to go to DSL and Dish. They will give you the best deal they are offering at the time. last fall they even threw in home phone for free. Didn't even ask for it.

You can get home phone free without any service company. We pay 3 bucks a month in taxes and that's it. Ooma from Costco

I've been doing that with Comcast for 20 years. The last time I called and threatened to leave, I pretty much was told...don't let the door hit you in the ass.

250 bucks a year for full coverage with 250 deductible is pretty cheap.

Commercial on my other truck w/1 mill. coverage is like 650.
Yep, that's better than mine even after I worked it today. They blame it on "statistics" since I live in a region that is apparently more dangerous. Actually it is compared with where most of you guys live. Who wants to adopt me?

Wow, I can't imagine paying that little for insurance. The basic coverage for a 20 y.o. truck That I keep for towing my dump trailer is $1100 a year
that covers nothing only liability.

Unfortunately where I live there is only 1 cable co. and only 1 cell phone provider that covers where I live. We have no choices.

I am not sure I could get my personal vehicle coverage any cheaper, nor my work truck.
You can if the vehicles are insured through different carriers and they ask you the right questions like, "how many miles do you drive to work every day?" Naturally I said "0" because I drive a company vehicle that is separately insured.

Kewl. Now you can not only pay me the $2.00 you owe me, but the $1 Leo owes me as well!
