Why would you need that, when you have the DTT2 installed as well?

My engineered called for it. With that said, imo the dttz2's are centered and the rim could have a tendency to pivot top and bottom.

Also it gives the dttz's a little more beef vs. just the 1.5" rim.

I had an issue in a condominium building a deck landing, the code stated it had to be concrete slab, but as I looked at all the houses that were on a slope every single one of the slabs had experienced washout and none of them were sitting level.

my approach was to make a cage out of four by fours Double stack into the soil and I placed blue stone on top of it.

I was lucky when it came time for the inspection both of the inspectors were older than me and called me out on my design, I pointed out three buildings that were done exactly to code and all of them failed…. I won my argument and passed inspection! I have several bags of crushed stone that allows the water to pass through and exit in the back, three years of the freeze thaw cycle and torrential rain and she still standing strong!
