Anyone have any idea how this was done. It’s placed on the sides of a fireplace mantel. I’m trying to replicate It.
It’s 2x6 spruce, It has been stained after it was grooved. Some areas have been shaved down 1/2 inch in depth 12 to 18 inches in length like a wave pattern then grooved before it was finished.

When the trains are getting the corn unloaded, lay the boards in the chute. As corn runs over the wood, the softer wood will wear down leaving the texture that you see.

Yep, wire wheeled the soft grain away. Going to be very labor intensive doing by hand & not with a big machine like that was likely done..

It can be done with a wire wheel.... But to get the same look you'd have to progress from an aggressive wire to a nylon brush.
I had to attempt the same thing on a job a while back (out of town job, unable to get replacement stock from supplier). I was able to get a close match with the two wire wheels I had to the rough cut stock I had.
