Gracao 650 texture machine

2184 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  drywallnflorida
I am a General Contractor who just upgraded from a " handheld hopper style" texture system to a Graco 650 floor model. What do you pro rockers think of this unit? Any advice or suggestions? I am about to embark on a fairly large hallway at a hospital in a few days.

Thanks in advance ,

they work good for small jobs, alot better than using a hopper, you don't have to hold the weight of your material just the gun and hose.
Million times better than the handheld. I've had mine for a year or so. The gun itself is sticking now (have to turn off machine to stop flow of mud). I've used it alot though, don't think its intended for multiple full house texturing.
I know what you mean. I originaly bought the hopper to do one job, then there was another, then another, ect. I was sooooooo fatuiged (sp?) after doing the walls, let alone the ceiling. Thats why when this larger project came up I bit the bullet. Probably willshoot faster too I hope!

Spray a little wd down the triger everytime you use it and it won't stick too bad, if that doesn't help there is a spring in the handle that gets rusted out, i've already replaced mine once. We have had our unit (I thingk the 750 with the air ) for about five years now and use it alot on jobs up to about 75 bds or less, anything more and we use our big sprayer.

yes it does spray alot faster and better because the material is pumped and not gravity feed, you can also mix your spray thicker to match heavy knockdown too, it has a surge when you first start spraying.
So to avoid the surge...can I simple move the gun around faster when I first pull the trigger then go back to my normal distance and speed?
