Checked your analytics for any spikes?
Do you have a way for users to register and login to a section of your site?
Installed pirated software?
Gave out account information to anyone recently?
Maybe you just got legit hacked, I don't know.
A quick check shows that Hostway isn't given glowing reviews by customers.

As a side note, Google is also blocking me from it and telling me it's a known attack site.
Same thing happened to my site a couple months ago. Called my host, their tech did a little checking and did find malware amongst my site files on my server. He deleted all the files for my site and reset the password, I reloaded the files for the website back on the server, went to the google webmaster tool page and filled out the form to have the site re-examined explaining that all files were deleted and reloaded, and the site was back up by the next morning. Somehow someone had guessed my username and password and hacked into the server, from what the tech said a fairly common occurence as many people don't use very secure usernames/passwords for their websites.

First your license gets revoked (or whatever happened) and everyone thought you were a hack, now you have a malicious website....what is wrong with you wallmaxx???

I am starting to dislike Hostway. when I set up my e-mail address with them I started getting a TON of SPAM! I called them up to see if there any filters I could install to keep that crap from coming to my e-mail box. The lady told me I could PAY THEM to not post my e-mail address in some directory!! I can't remember the monthly fee, but at that time I figured the cat was already out of the bag, so I didn't bother. What I don't get is why I should have to pay them to NOT do something?? I guess that is their way to make up for the money they would have made selling my e-mail address to the spammers!:furious:

Unless you are hosting the site on one of your office computers the problem is probably on whatever remote computer is hosting your domain. I hope you have have the problem fixed by now, but it it is still a problem, go to Google Webmaster Tools and log on.
- Click on your site.
- On the left there is a link to Labs with a plus on it. Clicking the plus will expand your selection choices to either Fetch as Googlebot or Malware details.
- Choose the latter and it will show you the details.
Hostway said that they could see 4 URL scripts in my website that would link people to other sites. One was for a Russian travel agency...weird stuff.
Their solution was for me to change all my passwords and then do a full overwrite of my site. Then I submitted a request to have Google reanalyze my site. About 2 hours later I was back in business. So in all, 1 day down.

Hope you didnt lose much traffic to your site. Today was a very slow day on the internet, or maybe it was me!

You can never make a site 100% secure. I have used brute force attacks on a MSN email address i forgot the password to once. Took just over a week and it cracked my password. It's not a case of if they can but how long. Thats why i choose really random passwords and usernames for secure sites. Most new CPU's can do over 10 million password hash combinations a second. So it dont take long.
Great information -- frankly using strong passwords is great advice even though we all hate trying to come up with tricks to remember them.
I don't run the site from my machine. It's stored on an off site server run by Hostway. I'm on a mac now, and there isn't much in the way of A/V software out there since there are very few vulnerabilities with the OSX/UNIX os. Not invulnerable...just way more natively secure than windows.
The last Mac A/V ware I found only worked on the 8 or 10 known mac specific viruses. And those only are dangerous if you have everything shared and all ports open.
Now on my PCs.......oh yeah baby..100% agree.:thumbsup:

Your right about Mac OSX having less problem with viruses but they still have them and they run into the thousands. People just don't program them for MAC only because of such a small market share. The other thing people don't realize is Mac have just has much malware, Trojan, worms, key loggers and so on. A lot of these arnt mac specific and can affect either a pc or a mac so they both have just as much of an issue with them. Mac are always pushing the "mac's don't get viruses" but they do.

I was a signal officer in the Army and we only used PCs. I am so tired of having to learn to protect and maintain a PC...way before I ever get to actually just "do" the thing you wanted to do. The mac is very user friendly. And UNIX being a non encrypted OS means that smarter peeps than me can look for vulnerabilities easily. Windows...not so much.
Both have pluses and minuses.
