Not enough information. What strength (modulous of elasticity) LVL's are available? What is the span of the center beam? What is the required roof design load (snow)?

the sizes are on the drawings
2nd story is to be used as bedroom space

i have downloaded the specs from GP on their GP Lam
it seems i would need (2) 1-3/4" x 11-7/8" to carry the load on my center girder.
i might as well use the same for the garage door header
anyone want to back me on this?

You're good to go with what you listed above, you won't have any problems.

 

You might be able to do it with a triple 9 1/4 LVL girder and a double 9 1/4 LVL door header in order to simplify the framing but without knowing the roof loading or the LVL strength I can't say for sure. Double 11 7/8 LVL's are certainly more than adequate.
