I'm bidding a kitchen where the HO wants a GE telescoping downdraft unit.

The last 2 in a row I have done with these have created problems.

These units have microswitches that sense if the filters are securely in place. Fine and dandy-but here's the problem I had twice in a row.

These filters dont snap in very securely and during shipping they evidently become dislodged. The only way to press the filters back into place is when the unit is in the raised position. But the unit will not raise if the filters are not in place. (See the problem?)

Both times, GE had to come out to remedy this.

Anyone else had similar problems, or am I just really unlucky?

Damn, I have one of those in my own house and never had that problem or even been aware of it. I better silicone my filers in place!
Maybe it was just a wierd coincedence. The units work great (once they work:wacko:)
