Has anyone ever used the 19 3/16" layout method that's on most tape measures? If so, what do you use it for? I have used it on framing decks and porch roofs, but never where insulation goes. Just wanted others opinions.

I`m actually using it right now on some three storey townhomes for the third floor inside and outside walls also the tji floor joists i haven`t really given it much thought there production houses and it meet code here minumum but what can you do the floor in engineered so thats the way it goes i think you only save one stud per 8 feet but i guess it all adds up if our building 1000`s of homes
I have used 19 3/16 for floor joist in homes in gurnee mills il. and they were tji joist with 2 1/2" top and bottom cord very spongey floor. I dont recommend even though it passes inspec.
Typically i've seeb this layout used on floors, when the joists are calculated for 2' centers. The small span decrease helps the sponginess a little, but I'm a 16 o.c. man myself regardless of the calcs.
used it on tgi floor joists in WI. No problems, but pia for the hvac guys
