I have a rental property on the beach that I maintain that a tenant pulled a broken sofa across and left severe gouges about six foot long in the hardwood floors. I have tried a hot iron on it and it did help some but the owner would like it to look a little better. Other than the hot crayon filler or replacement does anybody have any ideas? Thanks for your imput.

what kind of wood is it? what kind on finish are you working with; satin , semi, distressed?
We do insurance jobs all the time when painters & plumbers damaged floors in front of fridges, just cut the bad wood and replace.
