You know what I do not like about you. Never photos. You do not have one single photo of leveled floor and level at yours leveled floor?
Because I don't think it's worthy of taking pictures of basic stuff. It's not something I have ever thought of taking a picture of. Yea me. I cut some shims for a floor. Do you take pictures of shims on a door jamb? How about when you install a window? Well, you probably do, but I just don't have time or the space to store all those pics. I am pushing 750gb of project pics currently.

Not to mention the fact that you have to resize everything before you post on CT. Too much of a pain in the ass. But next time we do it, I'll post a pic for ya.

So for you and yours framer is pretty easy cut 500 yards of 2X with free hand at table saw and no more of 1/16 offset.
Tipi...10' or 1000' the process is the same. If it's easy for 10' it's just as easy for 100 10' pcs.

Agreed... TNT's come a long way over the years and does great work...

But in fairness, Tipi didn't refer to that work but was referring to photo's from him about leveled floors...
I wish I had them. Never knew I would want or need them up till today. Like I said, I have no issue posting pics of my work.

I will admit that it is a pain in the arse to cut them. But it's just monotonous and mind-dumbing, not complicated.

If you go back and read my OP, I just said what is there to master here. You guys decided to turn it upside down. As usual, I get the blame for responding to responses.

I've done that work in old houses, it is tedious and you need patience. You also need to start it out right with a laser, to figure where you need your height to be, so it all works out at the end without any huge F ups..

I've seen jobs where someone attempted to level a floor, and was a cluster f&@#. Started in one place, got to spot B and now the two floors are an inch and a half out. Rip it out and start over..

So good job with the shims.. another vote for glue and T@G, I will mention..
Never used a laser.

Tipi is a joke. Has been since day one. Go back and read some of his posts.
So what make me a joke. My portfolio? My customers? One my customer is asked buy city of mpls if he want take house before is put at market. It is only him, me as carpenter, electrician and plumber. Any one else come and go. Other my customer is 30 years in bussines to.
If anyone from you live in TC area you can come to this current project and see do you like or not.
Or just simple call Choice wood company. I worked for them before 15 years. Ask for Kris Jordan and ask Kris what he think about Zell like carpenter. A few jokes at this forum offend me without reason and my treads get locked because of them.
I promise here publicly to pay 10K to anyone who prove that any photo in my portfolio is not my. I do not know why people post a few my photos all across internet.
It is funny that I do not call out nobody just a few jokers call me out all time and point at my old posts. Hint probably you do not have enough job and jelaous. I do not care anymore who have longer, have enough job already a few years.

Never used a laser.
I usually laser the whole floor level first, and make marks at the doorways. I can only adjust thresholds so much, so getting compliant transitions room to room plus leveling floors may not be possible. Even getting a floor flat may be a problem...

The laser just lets me know where the big problem areas are going to be, and I'll work through how much I can take up where.

So you have to call people out in order to be called out?

Why I think you are a joke? Your thread many years ago about coping crown is one. This one is another. Your bankruptcy thread. Your competing on CL is another.

And then there is you posting pics you posted 2 years ago.

And the fact that you posted the same thing 2 years ago after you had posted a few months before that. Hell Warren said practically the same thing I did on this one. Funny no one jumped down his throat.

http://www.contractortalk.com/f14/what-you-think-about-my-way-leveling-floor-joists-229217/

So, yeah, you are a joke. I have no idea what your motives or intent is, but it's not to educate or learn.

Because your criticism just seems a little gratuitous (and devoid of constructive advice).

(Not sure why you care so much about the fact that Tipi is proud of his work, or why you feel the need to try and knock him down a peg.

One thing you can be sure of....?
I don't really "care" that much.)
Wonder if you would have said the same thing to Warren. My initial post was far less gratuitous than his.

And then there is you posting pics you posted 2 years ago.

Yeah, but TNT, to be fair, Tipi said that pic was from an old project...
^^^ Because it would cost owner like 5 time more money. Even that big shoot guy that I work for from time to time do not replace joists. If you think why I do not rip subfloor I would again have to set shims at top of joists like at this old project.
Your other point was valid although I'd say Warren was a little more reserved in his response... :whistling

All Tipi said at the beginning was, in his opinion, he mastered a technique (something he took a little pride in)... not all techniques are on the same scale certainly, but would it not make sense that he did it before to "master it"?...

After reading the last page or so though, I am thinking of starting a thread called "Piling on TNT"...

OK.

Whatever floats your boat.

If you can't tell, I really don't give a fck how somebody does it. Just do it and move along.

All I said was:

"I am sorry, what is there to master here? Set the laser on the floor, pull numbers, cut shims and strips, install, install plywood."

Warren was said News Flash and then ended with carry on with your normally scheduled program.

That isn't more reserved, IMO. But my point was made.

And while he did just say that, he said it like it was new. These pics are years old and he posted the same thread 2 years ago. I stand by my opinion that Tipi is a joke.

Also, no need to start that thread, it's pretty much on any I comment on.

Well yes a laser is not the only tool. But it sure is nice to get the big picture quickly, in a basement with several rooms, for example. You can establish your high point and low point, and figure out a benchmark from there. Nice to know there won't be any surprises when you get to the last room.

I've seen the results when guys don't plan ahead. For me the laser gives me the big picture fast.

Kind of like how while I do use a block plane and handsaw occasionally, I don't break out the handsaw when I need to rip a sheet of plywood.

I don't know there TNT... it might be simply a case of reading into it what you want... To be fair though, I've seen Tipi ask questions and give feedback, not only in the old thread you referenced but this one...

I have no idea what your motives or intent is, but it's not to educate or learn.
I’m not fan of sistering 2x to floor joists as nails will not hold forever. I always rip 2x and set at top. Yes it require a lot of skills and playing with laser but I’m comfortable with it. I’m apart from any other framing carpenter already 11 years, self-employed. I wonder if is my way of leveling common and if exist any better way.
I have question.

Is it mortar most logical option.

To today I do not know how to dill with such problem an that occur often.
Busting his nut is one thing with some ribbing is one thing... tearing him down and telling him he is a joke is another IMHO... but you're free to do as you like...

Also, no need to start that thread, it's pretty much on any I comment on.
Agreed... Kind of why I made the tongue-in-cheek reference about starting the thread in the first place... ;)

Now you can't tell me I'm piling on because I defended both of you in the same thread... :jester:

I made a simple statement that it wasn't a bid deal. I then was pushed and stated how I felt.

Tipi asks those questions backhanded. Go back and most of the time he is setting something up.

And like I said, he created this same thread 2 years ago and then a few months before that.

I bust guys balls that I like. Most of what he contributes is about himself and trying to get attention or provoke others. I know there are people that will say the same about me, but they would be wrong. Like in this case, I can back up my opinion. Wonder how many members have called Tipi for advice. Wonder how many actually relationships he has made here. My guess is ZERO. Regardless of how I come off at times, my purpose here has always been to grow and share.

This is the third time you have posted this. The second time two years ago Warren called you out on it as well.

The thread isn't a joke, you are.
