Fastcap Best Fence - Kapex On Dewalt Stand?

The other thing you need to consider is how much room does the stuff take up. I have change around so many times it's crazy.

I used to do makita Gravity rise with makita saw but gravity was too bulky.

Then done makita saw with dewalt stand which worked ok but not great.

Then the kapex with the dewalt stand but the dewalt stand was starting to get a pita to cart around. No easy way to mount it on a wall and took up a bunch of room in the floor.

Then got the MFT3 kapex with the UG wings. That completed the kapex setup as I was able to hang both the wings and MFT on the doors.

Used the dewalt stand with the bosch axial glide until I got the Bosch version. Mainly this was for deck use. Was cutting joists, posts and beams on the axial glide but it was getting to be a chore.

Changed again and now i cut everything with my cordless makita first on deck installs and then kapex and track saw comes out for handrail and border cuts. No need to cart around a massive saw and stand anymore.

I hear ya.

I think from a standpoint of working off it alone, the bosch gravity rise with the best fence would be awesome. But it takes up way to much space for my van and it wouldn't work well for me to maneuver through peoples houses.

I've taken a serious look at the ug stand. It might be an option. I would have to switch some things around in my van to accommodate it.

Right now I don't haul my dewalt stand around with me everyday. Only when I need it. Its not ideal, but it works. If only I had a new ford transit...

Which is why I prefer the mini mft (kapex mft) and the UG wings or my old original wings. Takes up minimal space and I have another work table if needed.

Plus I really like having a small table that my saw sits on, I can leave a tape measure, note pad, etc. laying on the table while I am working. Can't lay anything on the UG cart or most other saw stands.

How did you mount those Fastcap rails for storage? I like that, everything is together when moving around.

My setup is the Festool UG stand and UG wings. It all goes together nice. One trip and I have the saw, stand, and wings in one hand and can roll a vac and some systainers in the other or whatever else I want to carry.

It's looks like on the GR it would stick out more. Just a guess though.
Yep, it sticks out a little more, I need the extension wings on the Gravity, due to my fence span. Your setup is certainly contingent on your use.

Totally agree. My setup isn't ideal for decks at all. The 20' material is floppy and heavy. I've only got 4' of solid support and then an extension that pulls out another 4' (roughly) but the extension can't hold the weight of a board.

I think I'm gonna get some of the 2 legged out feed type rollers for when I'm doing deck.

Right now I just setup a sawhorse and try and stack the right combination of scrap to get it at the right height.

I don't see it taking up much more room.
Could you do me a favor and measure the height, width, and that the saw takes up with the kapex. I have a spot in my van that might work. The bosch with best fence looks way more sturdy to me than the UG.

Thinking about it, I'm usually cutting in garages. Having the saw mounted to a stand might not be so bad.

I Certainly will when I get home. I'm at bestbuy right now.

The saw on the stand in the vertical position is 33.5"x27.75". The height is 48"
Here's a pic of how I incorporated my 3rd hands to tag along on the stand.

So assume that's 33.5 depth right? The spec width is 27.75 which would be across the width of the wheel base?

I can handle the 48 x 27.75. Its the 33.5 that is the deal breaker for my situation in the van.

It just looks so dang unsterdy. It looks like you wouldn't even be set it up in someone's yard unless it was perfectly flat which it never is. Just looks to "fragile" to me. Go ahead...make my day...sell me...

It sets up on ground that isn't flat just fine. If you need to block the saw front to back you could. You want to have the wings running perpendicular to the slope. So say you facing downhill, you can put some scrap 2x at the back of the stand to make the saw table be more level.

The legs of the wings are adjustable with a screw knob. If you need to put a block under a leg because the ground isn't flat enough you can.

I've set up in back yards to do decks twice now that had slopes and in a couple minutes had it dialed in to perfect. I use a 78" level across the wings and do one side at a time.

As far as fragile, it's sturdy enough. Here is a video Tom did showing the connection. You see movement everywhere the the saw and wings stay together in plane.

I think it's a great system honestly. It's ultra portable and sets up fast. Also takes up very little space in the trailer. The continuous wings vs the Dewalt stand we used to have are a major improvement.

There is nowhere to set a cut list. I'm might figure something out. I just set it on top of my vac right now which is fine.

In summary, I wouldn't go with something different for what I do.
