After pounding nails and eating sawdust all day the last thing I want to watch on the boob tube for entertainment is somebody else doing the same thing. I have no idea who the guy is nor do I care.

RBS, you should have been in pictures, you would have been a SUPERSTAR!
Hoping this isn't too personal, but doesn't the sawdust make you constipated?

I only have one compaint, I wish he would go and write his Carpentry exams. Did you know Mike is not licenced in any trade. Kind of hurts his credibility, especialy when he promotes hiring licenced trades like plumbers and electricians. Guess he's too busy right now, but I'm bet him a Tim's he flunks the exam.
You don't need to be licensed in a trade here to be a GC. You just need a business license, which I'm sure he has.

Mike Holmes? He seems to be a di** on the jobsite but he also appears (at least TV portrays him) to really know everything he's talking about. Is he the ultimate contractor or the beneficiary of a huge tv deal budget that allows him to throw all kinds of money at homeowner's problems. Also, who in the hell screws their studs into plates? Canadian guys open up. I'm on the fence about Mike so we'll do this democratically and I'll let the professionals make my decision for me.
I like Mike and I think his professionalism is something to be admired. I believe he's dedicated to the building trades and strives exceed HO expectations no matter the circumstance. Nothing wrong with that in my book.

Mike Holmes

I watch his show to learn a thing or two I might otherwise not know about so maybe one day I can actually use it while working. In my line of work we are in during the rough for maybe a few days, then back after the paint dries, and hopefully not much time in between. The more you know about the other trades the better you can be at your own.

holmes the hero

I wish that they could interview the original contractors more often. I can imagine that the problem why things were not completed or were done in poor fashion are often financially inspired. just sayin....

What pisses me off about his show is that he doesn't leave the home owners with what they originally wanted or could "afford". Sure, he fixes the bad job done by the original contractor, I appreciate that (especially when there are safety issues). But the HO could originally only afford white melamine cabinets, vinyl flooring and a "flo-form" counter top. He throws a ton of money into it and leaves them with oak cabinets with granite counters, ceramic tile floor with in floor radiant heat and a new sky light!! He says "that's the way it should have been done"!! Yeah, but they could only afford a $4000 kitchen upgrade (not a $30,000 kitchen). No wonder he gets hugs from all the HO's wives?

I think it's important that we idolize TV personalities and place the burden of responsibility on them. We should not be held responsible for our own fate. Hollywood is a far more important and credible source. I watch many TV shows and set my moral compass based on them.
