Well you being a painter and carpenter should know what it costs to run a business. And you also know that a smooth finish is more expensive than normal.

Tell your neighbor if he does not like the price to either
A: get another quote or
B:do it himself.

Using those prices, my last sheetrock job would cost me $117,165 for a home I plan to sell for $165,000.

So I would try to get hired on as an installer with this guys crew.

Where do you live California or New York? I just posted picture of a ceiling were I took down plaster, rock lath, wood lath and furing strips and hung 5/8's and base coated and skim coated and fixed the top twp steps of Crown moulding and I charged $3,100 and that was 320 sqft:eek:
Oh and these CLOWNS who slap up 3/8 over a ceiling that more then likely could have been repaired just shows what real conartist do, cause they can't plaster something they have to laminate it, No talent there!

Taking into consideration the current economy i would say that bid is a little high. There are a lot of guys probably looking for work. But i'm not a expert on what drywallers charge.

I'm sure there are a lot of unemployed pilots who would be willing to take a paycut to get back to work.

Now that read that sentence, boy does it sound stupid.

So before you can account for the price being high.....maybe you should buy, install, finish, pay the tax, and then make a comment.

Otherwise keep it to yourself and your own forum.

sounds too low to me...the sheetrocker probably has only had a very small # of jobs this year, so each project has to cover waaaay more overhead :whistling
For where i live, and work, i would charge approx that much. even though its a small job, you have to go there several times, travel from one job to another. Someone has to pay that cost, and not only that, employee's wages, etc...people who have no clue make stupid comments, on things that they shouldn't. I dont care what people say, small jobs take just as much time per foot if not more in some cases as bigger jobs. You cant quote out based on sq for small jobs. If you do you will loose your shirt, and will do a crappy job, because you are not making what you should be.

sorry for the rant, but people need to think a bit.:censored:

If you pay that your smoking crack. To do the whole room it would be only 900 sqft, we are talking about the cieling only. Maybe his quote of $3183.00 had an extra 3 on it.

Honest work for an honest price keeps you bussy.

This guy will be working for someone soon

Maybe 33.76 per sheet...Did he actually give the quote written out or quote a price over the phone?

Running 3/8 over exsisting plaster  just turned one down that wanted that done...Do it right the first time or get someone like Frank to patch & skimcoat it with plaster ;)
