Motivational speaker, Les Brown had it right when he made that quote. When you are not sure if your loved one might not make it another day, the other crap like bills and the economy or whatever occupies your mind kind of fades away.

Got a family member in the hospital since Friday. Has history of heart trouble and diabetes and what ever else. Has worked way to hard all his life and never really taken good care of himself. Now he faces an open heart surgery this afternoon. Probably will make it, but always a chance he may not. He is a fighter and not a quitter. But, the final choice is not ours to make.

Take care of yourself and don't take life too darn serious, it jut isn't worth it.

I'll keep you updated

Bill,
I am sorry to hear about your family member.

But I say DO sweat the small stuff. The big stuff is business. For us dirt guys it consumes us, 24/7, unlike most of the other trades. We are on duty all the time. Moving machines, making repairs, fueling up...it goes on and on.

The small stuff:
Carry your kids to bed, and tuck them in, not because they fell asleep, because you can.
Give 'em a kiss and let them know how much you love them.

Make that phone call, to an old friend, or a new friend. You might be surprised that they have been thinking of calling you also.

I pray for the speedy recovery of your family member Mac.

God bless.

Isnt this the truth. Most of the time i kiss my daughter well before she wakes in the morning, and well after she is asleep. Most of the time this applies with my wife as well. Some folks just dont understand us dirt hearders. Always chasing the sun, just to get an extra cubic yard of work.

It seems that with all the crap that goes on in our daily lives... the hustle and grind that each and everyone of us faces everyday... we forget about the little things. We cant be everywhere and do everything at once... stuff like this just reminds us that we need to keep those little things close in our hearts. I hope everything is okay with your family member Bill... he/she is in my prayers

I agree the small stuff are the most important things. I went in later today so I could be at the bus stop w/ my daughter on the 1st day of school. Will be doing the same thing next week with the younger daughter. Nothing beats the smile on your kids face when you do something that makes them happy.
