Has any one on here built one? I received a call from a coworker of my wife asking if I could build her 3. I told her i have never built one but I would give it shot and sees how the first turns out. She said it doesn't have to be fancy. Just 2 story with a wrap around porch. Um.... You are getting pretty fancy.

I'm just looking for a plan or a place to get good plans for some.

I had a customer many years ago who bought two of them...kits.
She and her husband assembled the first one but couldn't muster the second. I put together the thing and painted everything...it was a chore. I think I could have shingled a real house in less time than it took to put the fingernail sized shingles on this.
I charged her $500 and lost money.
My Dad made a few for his grand-daughters but they weren't as intricate as the kits. Plus, he was retired.

I'd ask Cranbrook........he's a genuine master at small scale structures.

One of the first "carpentry" projects I ever did was a doll house kit for my little sister when I was 13-14. I'll be the first to admit it was not pretty but Im pretty sure she still has it somewhere, 17 years later. Can I ask what they are willing to spend on each? It seems like anything with much detail would get expensive quick, if it were a payed job. My daughter is only 5 months old but I'd like to make her one eventually.

She said she found some at Walmart but didn't want to spend the 200 each on them. She mentioned around 100 each.

I used to sell these. I thought they were alright kits.

Just glue and paint to taste. To get all the pieces already cut is priceless.
If I recall the kits were only about $50.
Of course that's the base model.
If you want crown molding and all the extras, you budget is the only constraint.

Again, remember the scale of the little girls dolls.

Just a quick update. She gave me a picture of the way she wanted them and they are now complete. She loves them and didn't complain about the price.

I actually really enjoyed doing them. I have several ideas in my head that I think I may build. Would be good Christmas gifts.
