I currently purchased a home that the walls are all done in knock down. I was curious? Will it look good if I were to faux finish the walls over the knock down or should I smooth the walls first? Also, in one of the bedrooms I wanted to paint stripes, should those walls be smoothed over first as well?
Thanks

I have knock down in my personal home. A technique I use is to put the darker main coat on first then go to a lighter color in the sam pantone and use a sponge and water to lightly create a faux finish.

It gives a great affect. If you don't like it as you are doing it you can just paint right back over it. There is no way to screw it up so to speak.
