On my house built in '93 its 6".

But I thought for sure the PH's of today are 5 1/2"

And those 2 hole reinforcing things that go over the door edge are 5 1/2" centers.

Can some one confirm. Need to know in the morning.

For a single deadbolt and entry lock most locations are set at 38" and 44" from top of an 80" door. Locksets with deadbolt and handle in one can be almost anything that the manufacture decides. A 5-1/2" spread is common for some manufactures.

Just check mine , two different manufactures and both are 5 1/2 .
