What is a saddle for a closet?

 

Could also go by saddle threshold. I have a two inch gap between the floor and bottom of the closets. Need to close this space up.

 

Just a threshold, or a transition strip if you want to call it that.

I always make these myself. I mostly used a 12" TS to get some of the cuts I needed. A router and sled should do fine in most cases

Don't be so sure, many guys in NYC do not ha access to a table saw just a miter saw and a circular saw. Most work out of a minivan or car, next to impossible to park a truck in Manhattan. The guys I have used don't even have a car, material is dropped off, they walk or use mass transit

 

Who says they have to be made on the job site?

 

Nobody really. But most of us are used to doing these on site with a table saw, router, and collection of bits.
Most of us aren't used to that NYC lifestyle though.

Kind of ironic seeing such a comment from a lectrickian, considering how much of that trade's work consists of on-site custom fabrication.

 

Most, if not all, applications require dimensions you can’t get until you install the floor.

To be fair, quite a number of electrical assemblies can be prefabbed. But when push comes to shove, the final step is still a custom install.

I'm reading the OP as "anybody have a source (besides themselves) for custom saddle thresholds?" A place to order from instead of dealing with the persnickety, half-interested local woodworker who probably has no time and will charge $1000.

 

I make my own from time to time. It's often the best option.

 

A hand held power planer can work wonders in a lot of similar situations; assuming you have the skill.
