Hi, I'm currently doing my dissertation at Huddersfield University and it's all about the CSCS card and the impact they have had on the Construction Industry in the UK, I'd like your opinions on the CSCS good, bad or indifferent, any problems you think there are or positives the scheme has brought with it.
Thank you in advance

Lol your roofer wearing a hardhat made me laugh. We worked on a 70k sq ft grocery store and we were running some curbing for air handlers. No crane on site at the time and we had to wear hard hats the whole time. Maybe they were afraid of frozen turds falling from airplanes, that was about all that was above us.

hi jay bam, have been a carpenter since 1978, i have just got my CS CS card ,i decided to do the test reluctantly may i say,i know of many good trades men who have retired because of this, the main reason for this i think is having to pay for it, it cost me i think £47 inc VAT all in and they made me feel very uncomfortable putting my personal belongings in a locker, to make sure i didnt cheat i suppose, and then to make me sit under test conditions in front of computer with cameras watching me, the questions were multi choice and were stupid questions half the time, i think your given 30 minutes to answer all questions i done it in about ten minutes, the questions were very childish to the point where i felt they were insulting the tradesman, my personal feelings about the CSCS is it as created jobs for other people from my money, there motto is no card ,no work , how does it work for foreigners who dont speak one word of english ,i have seen them on site many times ithink it sums it up , we live in a politically correct society,a nanny state determined to wrap everyone up in stifeling protection and red tape , but it wont stop these idiots from falling off scaffold or cutting there limbs off, they will always be there, if health and safety want to poke there nose into something maybe they should look in the direction of DIY at home.
