We always use client. I think your right in that it does sound higher end and the fact is that people are paying us thousands of dollars for our services and therefore we should be high end.

There might be some perception differences to the two words but since we are talking about a contract and not marketing I consider it of no consequence. It is contract verbage, it could be customer, client, signee, whatever at that point, to me it's just to designate who has what responsibilities.

I use "Purchaser"

They sign in the location marked purchaser, and any of their responsibilities referr to purchaser in the wording. I don't think it matters what word you use, so long as you are consistant, and they sign in the proper location.
