concrete ceilings?

im building a 6 floor apartment building in ny and the budget is low. The owner wanted to paint the ceilings and have wire moulding showing on the ceiling. I told him this is ridiculous as these are supposed to be luxury apartments so i recommended using chicago bar ceiling system and drywall. This way we dont have an issue with the lighting either. Does anyone have any better ideas that would be more cost effective? Thanks

A 6 floor apartment building in NYC will require a lot of input far higher up the chain of decision then yours, or advice from us.
yes i know but this job is ****ed up im making a lot of decisions. The prints suck and one of the owners had falling out with architect. Ive been calling the engineer up from the trailer every 20 minutes because something doesnt work. He asks my opinion and i tell him and he tells me its a great idea and he approves it. Ive never been involved in a job like this but its working out well so far. I have meeting monday with all the owners ,engineer, electrician, plumber and the architect on monday so was just wondering if anyone had better cost effective way for me to bring up at the meeting. Thanks

You probably are already doing this but in case you're not, be sure and get and keep a paper trail of all communications and approvals. It's amazing how if and when things go bad memories of who said what to whom go bad also.
every single thing i do i make the engineer and the super sign off and i have a list of changes about 3 pages long.
Though I am not fond of the industrial look. It can be done and running electrical should not be a problem. You should hire subs that are familiar with commercial construction. The residential guys probably dont' know nothing about post tension decks. I am assuming it's post tension and not pan deck steel structure.

After reading your other post. You need a guy that is familiar with commercial construction practice. What you need is a guy that can get results in precon meeting.

Hi Wayne.. So what did the guys actually decide upon? Hope they have a more clear action plan laid out for you now.
they aregoing to use black iron then attach chicago bar(hat channel) to it then sheetrock. I'm having a dilemma getting paid they are falling behind and giving me the run around so if they dont catch up im leaving this week.
Wayne, The chicago system will suit you best. My cousin uses it all the time in NYC.
Thats probably the wrong guy to deal with if he has taste like that.
