I have a buddy who is looking at going out on his own.

My specialty is putting lipstick on pigs. I am not at all adept at Microsoft paint, sketch up or any of the other graphic design programs like many of you guys are.

I'm looking for a CT crowdsourced logo for him. A little incentive, if you will.

Remember like y'all did for Andy a couple of years ago?

Hypothetically, let's call the company DA construction. Hypothetically, let's say he does mostly exterior work.

Whatchagot?

I paid a logo designer through Thumbtack last year to make my logo. I’m working up to going out completely on my own, and figured I’d get some of the less expensive items out of the way. My company name is Grizzly Home Services, and based pretty much just on that and a few questions about my favorite colors and stuff like that, he came up with these.

I still have his contact info if your guy wants to look into it. He was very reasonable price wise considering the quality of his work.

If I can say anything helpful, it will be to not get too cute. Make that logo as legible as possible.

I did a fantastic job with this on my company name/logo, but an absolutely horrendous job of legibility with my phone number/email address, which are so small in my logo that EVERYONE asks me what my number is, even though it's right in front of them.

Form follows function. Oops.

I would suggest that, BEFORE deciding on a name, check the Internet for the website name you would like to use for your company, to make sure it is not already taken. I made that mistake with my company. Had all types of materials printed, and was in business for about 2 years before I decided to create a Web page for my company, only to find that there was another company on the Internet already using the name.

Well 4 is what I went with. 3 was my first choice as well, but it looks too much like the Stanley Tools logo, and it would be harder to separate just the logo from the name later on for different purposes. 4 gives me a lot of flexibility down the road to alter it and use it in different formats.

I agree with #4... does give you flexibility in design (see below) while maintaining the integrity of the logo element and name text... also, with a new design, gives you more flexibility with the design for marketing and give-away's...

Personally, I thought #3's grizzly pic was a little more off-putting and lost in the design and would be harder to see in smaller marketing...
