I've always used 305 SS deck screws in the past. My supplier said they are carrying a new line of Philips head screws that suck and he won't sell them to me. He said most guys are using the coated screws from depot.

I am skeptical that these screws will hold up. I would imagine the finish would be damaged by driving the screw and expose the metal to the lumber and cause failure.

Do these deckmate screws hold up?

Any suggestions of online suppliers for deck screws? I can't find any locally with good pricing, $370+ is the best I found locally and they don't stock them anyways.

I actually left a message for fasco earlier today.

John, I sent you a PM.
Hey guys,

I'm a regional manager for Fasco, home of the SCRAIL. I d be happy to answer any questions you might have and can point you in the right direction on retailers. For treated we have 304 grade stainless steel scrails, but also offer what is called a fascoat for use in treated decks. Fascoat offers a corrosion resistance almost as good as 304 at a fraction of the cost.
