no a set of windows with the sides nearest to each other opening out(most common) vs a set opening sides furthest from each other opening out?

Are you talking about the hinge location? If that is what you mean then with a set of twin casements we will put the hinges on the outside edges so that the windows closes to the meeting point between the two windows. I dont think we ever had a customer ask for the hinges to be at the middle.
Casement windows are designed to "scoop" moving air into the building for ventilation. You should only have one side open at a time. They put the hinges on the outsides to give the hinge side of the unit more strength. Hope that helps.
