So I have a customer that wants a carport framed off the side of their house. The neighborhood is pure beach sand with zero rocks. My question is, if I pour sonic tubes 42”-48” deep to put the 6x6 posts on will the weight of the framing adventurually settle in the sand from over time?

Sounds like a question for the building department. What has been required for others will also apply to your customer.

Our sand is packed and doesn't sink.. It is beach sand. We run into some coral. We use a footing 6" under grade and build.

I know in my area, if soil is questionable at all, and even sometimes when it isn't, the Building Dept will require a soils report.

If I was unsure at all, I'd just get one for myself, even if the BD didn't ask for it.

Last one I got was like 800 bucks I think. I dug the pits. (y)
