Do you have questions regarding California Licensing?

I worked at the CSLB as an application technician for many years. I have a great deal of experience and would be happy to help.

Post your question and get a straight answer.

You have a week till test time?? You'd want to spend at least 2-3-4 hours a day going thru the written material and practice test questions.
Yah, a week is probably not gonna be long enough. I studied for about 2-3 months and took the computerized practice tests that came with my kit about 100 times, until I was getting 99-100%.

Anyone know how long the wait is? My application was received April 2nd and they are currently processing apps from March 19th while scheduling exams for the fourth week of April according to the CSLB.

Is it possible I'll be scheduled for my exam next month? I have my three week National Guard annual training next month. I can miss it but if my exam won't be till May, I'd like to go to earn some retirement points. Gotta love the miltary. Training always pops up at the most in opportune time.

Welcome to CT. And thank you for your service!

You're 2 weeks away from app processing and your test date will probably be around the second week of May. You can request one free reschedule. When you get to that point, let me know and I'll fill you in on what to do.

Anyone know what the hold up is with processing applications? Are they verifying experience for more applications or are there just a lot of applications in? I read on another forum that they are verifying experience for as many applications as they can. I hope I don't get hit by an investigation. I already have to jump through enough hoops and this is already taking forever.

Hi Guru, I would like to ask for your advise.

I applied for my Contractors License and everything was going well, I have my exam date for 05/16/2012 so I was happy, until I just checked the status on my application (20110112906) and it now says "APP TO AIU FOR INVESTIGATION".

Please advise. I have never been in any kind of legal trouble, no convictions, no criminal record, etc.

Thanks,

Adel

Hello Adel. Welcome to CT.

It could be one of two reasons why the app was sent to AIU. 1) you are 24 or younger, or 2) they randomly pulled your app for a secondary review.

#2 has been happening more frequently lately and I'm not sure why. But I'm hearing from more and more people that their apps are going to investigation.

Do you think that my Tax Returns as a Designer will be enough? I have been working as a Designer and Contractor for at least 8 years (Self employed) and have not felt the need for the license until now. I have also built two of my own houses as owner builder (I have permits to prove that)

What do you think?

Thanks.

I think that was the right choice. You can submit the O/B exp as a back up to the experience you submitted with the app. Perhaps the investigator will accept letters of referrence from your certifier and others who have first hand knowledge of your experience.

Phil,

After a month, my application has finally been sent to one of three investigators. I am waiting for them to contact me but want to make sure I have everything ready so that this process can move quickly. I have w-2s for the 2 1/2 years of part time employment. Can I use any of my 5 years as a Project Manager for Architecture Firms towards my experience? I also submitted my Architecture Degree for 3 years of experience...

Thanks,

Nick

I recently got laid off and I really want to start my own business. Do you know if it's possible for me to apply for a C15-Flooring Liscense without any experience? I know a couple of people who is a journeyman who's in the trade but I don't have anyone that could sign for me. Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks.
