Anyone any good at buffing floors? Is it like buffing a car where if you get a run in the paint you can water sand (you water sand paint on a car) and buff it and the run is gone?

Reason I'm asking is I have a couple "drips" by a closet in my hallway that I would like to sand out and there's a wierd mark right in the middle of the living room floor where when I put the last coat on I must have been a teeny bit light on poly in that small area. It's hard to explain, it's a streak about 6" long and 3" wide thats pretty hard to see, but I know it's there .

Just wondering if I could sand it and buff it to make it more uniform?? And how long it needs to dry before I could even do it. Maybe it's been drying too long already?

I appreciate any comments, thanx in advance! The finish is varathane and it's satin (ish!).
