Trimming out a new house, owner wants box beams. This is my first time building them. Pics are from the master bedroom after priming and show my process. The two long beams are 1x nailed on the flat since they’re up high, the 4 running to them are mitered joints. Basically it took longer than I expected and there are quite a few more to do in the house. Anyone have a quick process or tips for these?

Thanks - wish I could do a reveal but the ho wants them to look structural (which after recently moving here from Colorado and having done a fair amount of timber framing, they don’t). You’re right about the mitre though, might just nail them all on the flat from here on out then fill and sand joint since it’s getting painted

I get so annoyed when the recessed lighting isnt laid out right with the beam layout. Nothing ever seems to be thought out these days.
Last kitchen i did, custom cabinets beaded beams coffered ceiling and the d bag kitchen designer who decided out of the blue one day that he was an electrician , did the electric. Well my crown for the ceiling was just sneaking by the trim rings in spots, weird shadows from bad placement, and stupid clusters of lights in one spot but none in others. Dont get me started on the undercabinet lighting that sticks done below light rail becuase he changed from led tape to seagull festoons at the end. Hes a lazy POS.
