I'm gonna go with burn in from an atom bomb blast. Something must have been sitting in front of the wall. House stood up to it though, must have been a good contractor.


Or Dirt/mold. I'll let others decide on that.

When I zoom in on the pictures, the grain pattern on the siding looks more swirly and seem to have deeper texture than any Hardie that I've put on. It almost looks like the shadow line is thicker than Hardie (5/16") as well IMO.

I bet that black stuff will wipe off. How old is it and are there other spots on the house with those marks as well?

We once had to pull off some 10 year old fiber cement because a couple of windows had leaked. Not only was the back side of the FC covered in black mold, but much of it on that side of the house had black mold on the back. It also had places (where it was the worst) showing up on the front side, just like in these photos.

I'm not saying that's what this is, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. I HATE fiber cement.
