Hi guys,

A small popcorn ceiling was scraped and then primed and then skimmed to make it flat. We skimmed the first coat and we noticed cracks in the first coat. We thought few spots were just weak so we scraped the cracks/flakes and primed them again and then skimmed the whole ceiling again. After we got home, the homeowner sent us a picture. Please have a look at it and share your insights on this issue. Thanks

Here is what we do, after removing any texture, popcorn etc, we apply a coat of drywall conditioner to harden the surface. We no longer use primer. Then skim then prime then paint.

I would remove what is loose, apply conditioner and then repair, then continue on.
