I am curious, what brand/model of toilet do you try to sell your customer?

I promoted American Standard for the first 10-12 years in business, but got sick and tired of returning half their crap for visual defects! (then their was the "smart valve" they came out with in 2000 - I had to replace a lot of fill valves)
Since that time I have used some Mansfield Alto (good cheap toilet), and Kohler (mostly memoirs)

My all-time favorite toilet to sell and install is the Toto Ultimate.

I have installed upwards to 60-70 and have had one problem. I have yet to have a call back complaining of clogs or having to flush more than once to get the job done!

I also like the fact that the Toto Ultimate (from Japan) is made in the USA, while the majority of American Standard is made elsewhere.
I wonder if that is why there are very few problems with the Toto?:whistling

That is a nice toilet!! I have one just like it sitting in my shop, along with a really unique 4 1/2' clawfoot tub. Both these fixtures came out of the house that Canadian WW1 flying ace Billy Bishop grew up in (in Owen Sound Ontario).

I used to do a lot of restoration type renos in older homes - restored a lot of old tubs, faucets, and toilets. Don't do that much anymore:sad:

Hey, I remember seeing that toilet before. Bet its still in the same spot but I am sure the Festool has moved, though.

Mid to high end clients, either Kohler or Toto. Agree that Toto is a dream toilet; not only to install but to use but certainly not cheap. :thumbup1:

A/S makes a good product--but they've continually had to upgrade their signature flush systems from issues.

The champion system is in it's 4th generation...cadet the third. As early as last month, we were getting champions with old guts and a bag of new parts to change them out. They flush hard...but in some installations I've had clients complaint at the "splash" from the bowl when flushed.

Toto all the way. Just put one in in a customers bathroom, worked so well I got one for myself. I will not recommend any other brand.

The Japanese truly understand the American consumer, properly engineered trucks, cars, tv's, crappers.

I know this is an ancient thread, but I've always recommended A/S cadet 3 toilets....but I just picked one up the other day for my house (round front). And it completely sucks! Have they changed something recently? Can't say I've installed a round front in like 3 years (always an elongated), does that have something to do with it?
I know it's not the plumbing, because I just ran everything new?
Taking it out today and returning,
think I might get a jacuzzi?

Best Toilet in the business is Toto

I love the Toto toilets the best as well. I have never had a call back on an install ever. The toilets design is outstanding and the tech support from Mr. Love first class. I first learned about these online forums while researching my first Toto toilet install about 5 or 6 years ago.

Terry's instructions differed somewhat from the suppliers and guess which ones where right? Here is a hint - Terry is a Master Plumber....

Here is the toilet I like the best from Toto;

The toilet slides into a special housing and the regular guts are hidden from view. This is a very easy toilet to keep clean. I can't remember the model number...

If you have any questions about Toto Toilets or want to know where to buy them just email Terry Love. He'll point you in the right direction.

I don't think anyone has mentioned going with the "chair-height" models. I've had then in my last couple of personal homes and highly prefer them. However, it does make using a conventional height toilet somewhat awkward when you're at a public restroom. Man, you think you're never going to land.
