I was wondering if I could get opinions on what brand you would consider to be the best replacement window. I am opening a new showroom in Maryland and I am looking for a high quality replacement window that I can buy directly from the manufacturer.

There are probably going to be as many answers as there are windows out there. Who are you planning to sell to mostly? Contractor or HO? And will you be able to compete with the yards or big box stores. Think A lot of it depends too on what you have in the area to buy any what kind of turn around you can provide. And also how you can market them as being something better then what is already in your area.

Stay away from low end crap like silver line, pella, alside, and the rest of the garbage they sell at the supply houses.
High end vinyl windows that most pros's agree are the best would be the following:
Okna , Soft Lite, Sunrise, Gorell.
These windows are not only air tight and very energy efficient but they also look nice.

I don't want to sound biased, so I'm not going to say any specific brands, but having experience as a company owner, sales person, and installer, I find that the best products are those with elite performance ratings both thermal and structural. High end double pane u values in the .25-.26 range, AI .05 or less, and DP 50 or higher.

Pella does'nt make a vinyl window, years ago they bought out an existing factory in Kentucky and simply put their sticker on the product.

Straight out of my reps mouth when he told me they were going to start offering vinyl replacements since they were missing a huge market without some offering.

They're not great by any means, but we sold/installed a ton of them....people bought them simply due to the sticker that said Pella, I used them as my bottom end offer/cheapest window offer and explained as to why they should really invest in the better quality units, but bottom dollar was the #1 item that based most the consumer descions around here.

We never had any call backs with them, had a few hardware issues, but that was just a simple phone call to my rep and they sent a "tech" out to take care of it...worked out great for me, big mark up and never had to look back. As with about anything, a good installer can make a POS product work whereas a hack can take the best on the market and turn it into a POS in a hurry.

Paradigm windows out of Maine make a real nice window.

I'll be installing Simonton windows today. They're my main go to window.

Here's a pic of a paradigm window matching the grid pattern of the existing windows on the house. The outside is a custom color (not to match the house, clients were changing the trim paint color).

Paradigm makes a decent window from what I've seen and heard about them from of my peers. I do prefer the offerings from OKNA and Soft-Lite regarding performance, value, and ease of installation. I've installed more Sunrise Vanguard products than any other product out there and while they are very attractive and feature so much visible glass compared to many bulkier vinyl products out there, they're not for speed oriented subcontracted installations. It's a very time consuming fussy product.

Love Marvin regarding Wood.
