Never seen anything like that before, that's not much of a span for two column lines, unless there's going to be some unusual loading? Like a forklift parking garage :laughing:

It has a 12" thick extremely reinforced slab on it. No forklifts on it. The plates on the beams are 1" thick.

Why are the openings at the column bases at 45*? Something to do with cracking?
I'd wager that it's for cutting in the control joints.
I was on a suspended slab project where we did the same thing ; that way we could run the saw cuts right to the points.
