I've been trying to get help with this and talk to some builders in my area, but so far I've no luck. I'm working on plans for a some clients of mine who are adding on to their existing home. They want the addition to be at a lower level than the existing. This project is here in Northeast Texas and has a slab on grade foundation. I've seen many times how two foundations are tied together when both slabs are at the same elevation, but I have yet to see how to tie two slabs together when one of them is lower than the other. The difference in Top of Slab elevation will be anywhere from 18" - 24". Right now they have 9'-0" ceilings on the side of the home where the addition will go, and the want to maintain the same roof/fascia height. So the ceiling height in the addition will be anywhere from 10'-6" to 11'-0".
If anyone can help me figure this out I'd greatly appreciate it. I just need to know how to draw the foundation section at the transition.
I've attached a preliminary sketch to show the transition.
Thanks
