Arby's restaurant is Unusual activity ...

I got a call a few days ago from my bank stating that their was some "unusual" activity on my card, they asked if I had traveled recently or purchased any tickets with ***** travel, I told them that I had, and my family just got back from the Yucatan a few weeks ago. He asked if I had recently been to Sea World San Diego & or Disneyland California, and I said yes Both, then he asks about the hotel charge in San Fransisco, and I tell him that we are here now ... so he says; "your in San Fransisco now?!" I say yes since Tuesday, there's a long pause and some keyboard noise ...

he says; "Mr. 'PGD' we are going to have to ask that you review your statements and contact the fraud dept ASAP, we will cancel your cards and issue new ones right away!" I said why!? he said because someone just purchased food at Arby's restaurant in Los Angeles less than 45 min ago!

Freaking Arby's!! I'd never eat at Arby's!

Turns out someone made a duplicate of my card and has been using it for more than 6 weeks on small purchases like movies, Gas and food for more than $2,000! the largest purchase was for $400 at Best buys!

How funny that it was only picked up on because I was out of town, and couldn't have been in two places at once. I would have only caught on if I saw the Arby's charge but every thing else would have gone by me, I shop at all those places but in a different area.

the Bank's covering my losses but it's a b!tch to prove you didn't buy gas and go to the movies...

Sneaky Bastard's! how can you make a copy of someones credit card? it's not like they could be in cahoots with all those merchants!

It's called identity theft, but I'm sure you know that. Someone hacked into your banks computer, or some other computer, and got the info they needed. They DO NOT need to have access you your physical card.

What special device do you think merchants use to swipe your card? Some magical contraption that somehow just 'knows' it's your card? Are there little elves or leprechans or fairies that do this?

No, it's standard, off-the-shelf technology that's available all over the internet. All someone needs is the information contained on the magnetic stripe, your card number, and the expiration date, and with the right equipment (again, available on the internet!) they can just punch out a card just like yours. And all this information is zipping around in cyber-space, as well as stored on several so-called 'secure' computers.

It's easy to do, you almost never get caught, and you can make damn good money at it. Just by cloning your card, they made $2k today. How much did you make today?

Geez Sparky ... sorry I didn't know.

Did one of those "magical little fairies" wake up on the wrong side of your bed or what?

next time i'll google "fraud and how it's done" before posting...
And of all places to eat on your dime, they pick ARBYS?

Least they could've done was to find a Red Lobster in the area.

I think they were one of the smart ones. They were doing small purchases, stuff that wouldn't alert attention. But you do a lot of small stuff and it adds up quick.

Sorry to hear about it PGD
there should be a $5,000 reward for nabbing these F'rs! I wanted to go to the Gas Station & Best buy to review the tapes and see if I can get a license plate number or some kind on ID on the theif, cause I know the Bank isn't gonna investigate, it probably happens too often.

I can't wait for my micro chip NWO RFID 666 Mark Tracking Implant!!
They got me with small purchases. iTunes, $20 here $40 there...

Do you mean that his girlfriend likes Arbys while Mr. familyman is on vacation?
It would be amusing if an Arbys meal is what it took for his wife(and kids) to find out the quality of his character......
and your just OooOOoooo00oozing with lard fatass.

what Jumbo Means is that he equates some one stealing from me personally to a unlicensed Contractor stealing his jobs.

the fact is it's not his job to get, it's the home owners to give, and if a home owner chooses to give it to a unlicensed contractor to save a penny or two then I say let them! they deserve anything they get, but I'm not gonna be the one you mettles in someone else's business, just because I can't find work.

you know what I do when it's slow? ... I go on vacation, some of you should too.

Breaking the law is breaking the law...Stealing someones CC or doing job after job with out permits and using illegal labor. It is still a crime.
Justify it all you want you are breaking the law...PERIOD.

Whatever Jack!!!

here comes the same argument we have all the time! you pretend like you never break the law or do a job without the necessary permits and I call you out as a hypocrite!

I like an imperfect world, I don't like too many rules, and I hate hypocrites!

you play by the rules because your better than the rest, so don't cry about it! it's easier to plop a kid in front of the television or give him fast food all the time but will you do that to your kids!? (JumboJack) NO you probably don't but do you go around b!tching that your kid costs you more money than the neighbors kid?

Do what you do because it's the right thing, let others do what they will in society ... as long as it doesn't come directly from you live and let live with the "rules" ... Morality is a different issue please don't confuse the two, driving in the carpool lane alone is NOT the same as robbing someone at gun point!

I would do work without a permit if the home owner asks, and I'll do it well, better than code, so that I can sleep at night knowing I did good work.

F! what everyone else is doing.

You know NOTHING about my kids! You low life!Bringing in family stuff because your argument is so very weak.

Why is it so hard for you to understand that not everyone breaks the law on a daily basis? It does take away from legit contractors when people skirt the rules and are able to lowball..Why can't you understand that cementhead?
Did I touch a nerve?

I wasn't being personal I was giving an example ... but methinks thou reveled thyself ...

Sigmund Freud where are you?

Do you prefer Arby's?
Did I hit a nerve?

I wasn't being personal, I was illustrating a point ... but your reaction is rather revealing...
Maybe we should meet for lunch, talk about it man to man.
You bring my kids into this and it gets personal.
