Retirement breeds boredom. I hated dealing with employees, but should have bought a mini ex to occupy my time now.

Never, ever cooked until last year, and finding I love it. Made this last night. wife is pretty critical of what I do, but raved about this.

Pound chicken breasts half inch thick, mix up fresh spinach leaves, garlic, onion, sour cream, pepper black cheese and wrap up in chicken breasts, wrap that with bacon, bake for 45 minutes.

I know I'm my own critic here, but damn it was good.

Cooking is great. I love to cook.

It's like anything else though...some things will be better than others. Just don't give up because something didn't turn put like you planned.

The internet is your friend if you have questions or concerns.

I joined America's Test Kitchen website. I love their shows and their recipes are done repetitively to insure quality outcome.

Robie, I knew you were in food biz, didn't realize you actually "cooked".

When Cindy had to leave for work or go to daughter's, I lived on canned soup, cereal, sandwiches.

I've just "kinda" started cooking in the last year. ..and am really enjoying it.

Guess my thing is, if I'm going to make something. ..it's not going to be a burger on a grill.

I'm after that ooooohhh, aaaah factor.

And it's been fun, granted my critics are family and friends. .but so far has gone over pretty good.

Yup, that will make friends.

On the hibachi:

boneless breasts marinated in vinegar and onions, wrapped w/bacon, grille, roll in parmesan cheese and dust with fresh chives.

Throw a dollup of horseradish on a corner of the plate to brighten up the last bite or 2.

I consider myself a pretty respectable cook. Good cooking doesn't come from the wow factor, it comes from basic fundamentals of cooking which is knowing how to regulate time, temperature and salt.

If you want a no-brainer meal that will sure to impress look to braising. Take any old piece of meat, sear it off so it's nice and dark, brown tomatoes paste then add whatever liquid you have and whatever veg you have. Bake or boil until both are tender.

Whole tenderloin - silver skinned off, cleaned up, cut in half, seasoned then tied into a roast so the ends don't overcook the middle. Get it to 135 and let her rest. Slice and consume.

Budweiser - Chill to about 30 degrees, open, consume - repeat often

I can't hold a candle to the way my little lady cooks, but I know my way around a few meals.
Peppers stuffed with brie and rice, grill smoked ribs, the best burger you've ever tasted... And just plain old breakfast. I love a well cooked breakfast.

I make pop overs. They have a short half life. I like to cut them in half, put crispy bacon in . Wife likes them with blueberry jelly. I had to go on ebay to find the old cast iron pans, as they stopped making them in the 70's.

Bacon and jelly, that's quite a combination. Definitely try that.

Everybody loves bacon

Breakfast is only good on a cast iron skillet.

Personally, the burnt, black stuff that clings to the bottom of the skillet is mine.

Breakfast is my favorite meal

This is the last thing I made. It is a historical Japanese dish, but the idea and recipe came from an anime series. Food Wars on Youtube. Typical Japanese anime naughtiness.

However, the recipes are good stuff. I used a London broil and split it. The onions were an amazing tenderizer. Yummy

This weekends meal will be a fake pork roast made with potatoes wrapped in bacon.

I try and cook at least one full meal a week. I'd cook every night if I could.
