II have never seen any electric impact drivers that can deliver 10% of the torque an air powered impact driver will. I think there is a marketing reason they spec air tools at ft/lbs and electric impacts at inch/lbs.
Got an e-mail today that contained ad for the Milwaukee 18V cordless impact - pretty cute ad. I tried to upload the media player file it but it won't work. Keep an eye out.
Terry, How big is your compressor? My 2HP with 12gal tank will run my 1/2" impact wrench with 250 ft/lb of torque long enough to sink quite a few lag bolts.
I'm not so sure how much help I want to give competition within my own area but I'm a nice guy so I'll help out. You don't say what area of Durham you're in but for me I found everything I needed re: permits by going to the Town of Ajax website - www.townofajax.com. Different parts of Durham have slightly different forms.
Since, you are in my area, perhaps we could meet up and talk shop over a beer or two sometime?
Thanx alot Terry, a metting sounds great. I live in brooklin and my home number is 620 0656, ask for Shane, but be sure to say it's decks ect. I have five sites on the go with deck depot: Milton, Nottingham, Brooklin, Winfield farms, and Harmony. But I would like to canvass Brooklin with my new flyers, seeing it is in my back yard. With all the work out here, I think we can be friends and competitors eh? I have a two man crew and we are both under 25 and have degrees. Need some more income to finish grad school. I have a theology degree and my partner has a polysci degree. Now we're builders, go figure.
Teetor, kind of a personal question, don't you think? :cheesygri
But seriously, I have the Porter Cable Job Boss™ 4.5 Gallon 150 PSI Contractor Air Compressor:
You are going to need a compressor that will provide you with about 10 CFM of free air if you are going to run continuously. With a smaller compressor you can 'fool the tool' if you have the volume. As you have discovered, a 0.6 cu ft reservoir won't fool much.
I'm thinking you have me confused with the new guy Decks Unlimited. He was the one complaining about his compressor/impact wrench not driving the lag bolts in enough.
