I know this is a problem any of us with garages, shops, and customer garages that are "working" aka heated/cooled garages deal with..especially in northern climates and our harsh winters.
My sign guy is redoing a bay at his home shop he does wraps and such out of, 16x10 insulated raised panel OHD faces the west, so it gets hammered all winter long by north-west winter winds and there is an obvious breech allowing air around the perimeter of the door. I'm going to order struts to stiffen the door laterally to help with the blow in bow issues, the exterior-typically-vinyl weather strip is in good condition all around and making good contact with the door...but my gawd, it's 2013 and OHD's are not a new concept....is there any sort of system that makes a more positive seal to prevent air from coming through so easily?
I've had a easy design in my head that essentially places the sides of the OHD in a U shaped track that would have stiff whiskers...almost like some of the allergy seals on windows, that would be the secondary blockage system of wind, used in conjunction with the normal vinyl strip around the exterior perimeter that butts up against door, seems so obvious and easy I don't know why they haven't done it yet.
Anyhow, anybody has a product/idea to help seal a big OHD better, I'm all ears. For now all I can do is stiffen it up and then readjust track...but I know what he wants and I don't think there's a product (that's I'm aware of) that fits the bill...hence coming on here.
