Hey all, just found you doing yet another either or question. This one was on roofing nails or screws for securing Hardie board over thinset on small bathroom floor.

In the HVAC residential trades forever but have not done a tile floor over wood. Last one was over cement. It all started by discovering a 2" CI bath drain about to rot through. Now I finally have a real reason to yank that pink tub! If the plumber I know can snap cut that 2" CI where it's still good.........

Read the HB install instructions. Galv roofing nails are acceptable.

I have never used them. I use the coated Hardie backer screws.

Small bathroom. Nothing to save - price or time. Only a better job all the way around with the proper screws.
