Anyone have any comments on this newer tech 1.28g flush toilet. Suppose to keep the bowl cleaner and flush better than a 1.6g.

Wife would probably appreciate the cleaner bowl.

Less water, same deuce, more contact, = more skid marks....
It is the grease and nitrogen loads that cost to remove from the water returned to the river/ ocean/ lake
chasing ever smaller water use # is just one more Federal regulatory Stupidity. IMHO

It isn't the water that costs for sewer treatment, locally POTABLE water is a penny a gallon,{This INCLUDES 0.60 of a cent for the sewer treatment} thus you save a dollar every Five Hundred flushes......, maybe if the higher bio loads don't plug or corrode the mains.......or you spent spent more then a minute waiting to reflush a 'floater' or stinker......

If your local community is refusing to build the infrastructure to provide 1.6 gallons of water to flush your toilets, it is time to leave or revolt. IMHO

Next thing you know, they will tell you breathing is melting the antarctic ice shield.......and CO2 is a pollutant......

Does the high velocity/ quick flush aerosols more fecal water then old school slow, large volume toilets?

Do they come with a "poop" knife? Don't blame the messenger, blame 'social media'.... 🚽 💩 👨‍🔧

I don't even care about the water volume vs price. The toilet changes the ratio of bowl vs rim. In a usual toilet the bowl gets 70% and the rim gets 30%. In this toilet it's switched so the same amount of water is used but the rim water is what cleans the bowl.

I have 2 cheap toilets in the house. Both have very low water levels in the bowl so when you drop a deuce it's not all underwater. That's where it sticks to the bowl and doesn't get clean when you flush.

This isn't a dual flush. It has two flappers though. One for the bowl and one for the rim. I saw this on an episode of This Old House and it got me curious. They were showing all kinds of split open toilets and how they worked and then showed this newer style one and I was very intrigued with the way it operated.

I put the cheaper American standard Champion in at my Mom's a few years ago. Same specs afa 1.28g, fancy water flow jets and extra clean coating whatever.

Doesn't stay any cleaner than any other. Hasn't clogged that I'm aware of. Supposed to be able to flush 20 golf balls, for what that's worth.

No complaints whatsoever, but still need to clean like any other.

Looked it up LOL

I have two Champions, I did consider that one but it was new to market a few years ago.

Doesnt have diamonds or something impregnated into the porcelain to prevent build up with a better water swirl around the bowl?

The Champions have worked well. The flushes are powerful enough. Once I awhile there's a skid mark. But a second full flush takes care of it. I try to keep the toilet clean though using one of those clinging bowl cleaners letting it soak for an hour. I think that helps.

We have not had any clogs in three years

A big difference between many 1.6 gallon to 1.28 is the flush valves

1.6 we're all 2" when they were introduced, and many continued to be. New models came out with 3" which makes a big difference in the flush.

I'm pretty sure all 1.28 have a 3" flush valve.
This VorMax has 3"

Same issue with newer Toto's I called them about raising the water level and their response was "don't you want to save the planet ? " I told them not if I have to flush 3 times

There is aToto that I installed last year that has a 10, 12 and 14" adapter available, I will look back for the name. Higher water level and flushed great

The main problem for me is the wife won't allow a brush in the bathroom. She says they are disgusting. So she bought these little disposable scrubber things that go on the end of a wand. You use them, they have soap in them and then a little trigger to make them let go into the trash.

I won't use them because they are expensive. So she gets upset with me if I leave a mark in the bowl. If I had a brush there'd never be a mark. I have my toilet in the shop and it's clean and a man has been in charge of that for 16 years. I have a brush, and I use it.

So I was hoping that this new fangled toilet might help things out a bit. Both my toilets in the house are like $79, cheap. One is an A.I.O. and the other one says Standard. Mind you, not American Standard.

edit: I guess it's a rare version of the logo, but it might be an American Standard.

Still junk.

I think the one you are looking at has a cleaning option. Or used to, you could purchase the cleaner it stores in the tank and then you push an injury button just to clean it

I tried to find it but it's too much work at the moment. ..

Although I know why I decided against this toilet. It has two flush valves, one for the bowl and one for the rim .

Reading the reviews, it seams sometimes one of the flush valves occasionally doesn't seat properly leaving the toilet running.

I couldn't get a clear understanding if this was a big issue or not and decided not take the risk...this would have been for the second toilet replacement. It replaced a low rise 3.5 gallon " Borg - Warner" in powder blue. Never flushed well. Never heard or seen one since.

You may look for the cleaning solution option in your case.

Haven’t installed that one yet, but my go-to is the American Standard Cadet Pro.

Works very well, no complaints. I even install that in commercial facilities, and gotten good reports on it.

Toto makes some nice units, I’ve installed those in both residential and commercial settings.

I will say, just because it’s Toto, doesn’t necessarily make it better. The Drake is decent, I just installed one of those fancy ones with the built in bidet, and it’s fine. Pricey though.

But I’ve installed some Toto’s that were probably worse than the Cadet Pro.

I find the American Standard Champion is not the prettiest toilet.

Kohler definitely is better looking toilet.

I'm a fan of them as well
Not sure I really care what it looks like.
